Someone at work flat out didn’t believe a “crappy old car” like mine had actually made it to France – until I walked out to the car park and picked the return journey card from Eurotunnel off the back seat

Currently waiting on Burtons to get their act together and actually get the head gasket set I ordered on Friday out to me . I think I’ll hold my breath and see if it arrives in tomorrow’s post, eh 
The last few days have been spent building a (fantastically over-engineered) workbench for the garage, which at a rough guess would be able to take the entire weight of the Capri without breaking sweat … if only I could lift it high enough 
Ah well, that grade B O-level in Woodwork will pay off if it gives me a nice place to clean up the head

I’ve also been attacking the holes in the roof with sealant and it seems like there’s just one leak left – unfortunately it’s the one that goes into one of the striplights and makes it fizzle a bit 
Tonight’s plan is to get the head off the car and cleaned up, ready for the new gasket – so if the workbench doesn’t collapse I’ll update later 
Do I need any special kind of “goo” for removing the old gasket and cleaning up the faces? I’ve got a razor-scraper, meths, surgical spirit, white spirit, thinners, Gunk and probably a few others – so should be good to go…
