Right, catch-up time 
Started off with some glass fibre compound to fill in the gaps and take out the crease from the old bump, then ran some filler over the top. Unfortunately, I forgot I didn’t have the air sander I’d used at college and probably got a bit carried away and put too much on 
A little bit of sanding later, I’d worked through 80, 180 and 320 grit paper and gave it a squirt of primer.
You’ll notice that the holes for the plastic wrap-around bumper extensions have gone too 
They had small fillets cut, welded in, ground down then skimmed with a bit of filler. Quite impressed that I managed to get all four corners flat on the first go 
Whilst sanding down the n/s front corner, I noticed there seemed to be something glued to the bottom inside lip of the wing, so pulled at it to discover that a chunk of rust had been hidden with bathroom sealant and then sprayed over 
By the time I got back to actual metal, it was about a three inch hole. OK, so the whole wing’s getting replaced eventually, but I thought I might as well get some more practice in anyway.
Once I’d tickled it with a flap disc on the grinder, I was able to confirm that I’d successfully recessed the patch by about 1mm, enabling me to get some more practice with the filler 
By this point it was about eight in the evening, and I was too knackered to do anything more. The following morning, the car got its first wash in ages, fluids checked over, loaded up with camping gear and beer and then it was time to set off for the Classic Ford show at Santa Pod.
We had a cracking weekend, and it was great to meet everyone and be made to feel so welcome. 
Unfortunately, pretty much all of the pictures for the weekend are on my girlfriend’s camera, so until she gets back from her work trip I’m stuffed. Suffice to say, the 346 mile round trip is the furthest this car’s gone in at least five, and maybe ten years, and it didn’t let us down once
