First of all, wow – thanks to anyone who awarded the thread some stars … it’s nice to know that people are actually interested

Secondly, sorry, but I couldn’t make the Scotch Corner meet for reasons that will become readily apparent

Thirdly, never, ever, ever buy a house without a warranted/certified central heating system  If you happen to contract pneumonia and the central heating dies repeatedly leaving you with a f-f-f-freezin’ house it doesn’t do you any good at all

Fourthly, wahey, I’ve got my new house

Fifthly, if you’ve not moved your Capri in months and you’ve had half the front end in bits, don’t assume you’ll be able to chuck it all back together in a couple of hours at some mid-point in the move.

I managed to get her running – admittedly running somewhat rough – and set off to put some go-go juice in at the Asda round the corner. Flush with a sense of success and full of the joys of spring, some young type turned up in a lovely P5B Coupe as I was filling up, but he couldn’t have looked more down his nose at me if I’d took a dump on his bonnet while he stood on the roof  Not sure that copper was too impressed with the rather agricultural looking bumper, either, but hey, at least the indicator worked even if it was scraping on the ground

It was a different story once I got onto the motorway though and it reminded me why I wanted to own the sort of car I’d grown up seeing … smiles from an older couple in a Passat, a multiple toot on the airhorns from some happy nutter trucker in his artic, thumbs up from a lad in a pile of rust moulded into the shape of a Beetle and finally, a slow cruise past from from some lads and lasses in a beautifully kept red Mk3 (I think) Escort with an RS badge on the back. To you all, I salute you  Not bad for ten miles of the M6 on a Sunday afternoon

Off the motorway and down a couple of backroads and I turned into the new driveway, eased her down the dangerously slippy York stone and into my new garage. It may not be a palace, as you’ll see over the next few weeks, but I can swing both doors open at once and still have room for all the extra bits and toys I’ve amassed over the last few months

Capri spends its' first night in new home

Capri with loads of space in the garage

That’s about as far as I’ve got so far, because I’m determined to get the house clear of boxes before I start in the garage, but rest assured, you’ll all soon be flooded with questions about corrugated roof repairs, dodgy electrics, waterproofing shed panels, removing twenty year-old green goo from driveways … oh, and one or two questions about fixin’ up a Capri

Night all …
